About Creative Arts & Athletics (CAA)

Creative Arts New York City Summer Camp
Creative Arts & Athletics

Basic Facts

Creative Arts & Athletics, founded in 1982, offers boys and girls ages 6-15 an opportunity to explore arts and athletics in an encouraging environment that cultivates expression. Our campers come from all over the city and beyond. Please refer to the Important News box on the home page for dates, times, tuition and other up-to-date, critical information.

The Big Apple

New York City is one of the most exciting places in the world with some of the most talented artists and educators; we take full advantage of our enviable location! During the summer, we see a Broadway show and have visiting Guest Artists. This being said, the true stars of our summer are the campers themselves. Each day after lunch, we settle in for a Noontime Show in which campers perform for campers.

The Programs

Campers who have completed Kindergarten or 1st grade (ages 6-7) travel together from class to class with their counselors. They sample all of the subject areas at Creative Arts, with some class selections available. This program consists of about 40 campers.

Campers ranging from 3rd to 9th grade (ages 8-15) choose their own classes. There are 5 permanent periods in a day with about 15 class choices for each period. Before camp begins, each camper chooses their classes for the summer. There is a also bonus period called Pick-at-One that is chosen in camp. There are approximately 160-170 campers in this division.

Subject Areas

The major subject areas at CAA are Visual Arts (drawing, painting, ceramics, design, sewing, crafts & more), Performing Arts (theatre, dance, instrumental music, singing & more), Athletics (soccer, basketball, track, fencing, martial arts, capoeira & more), and Technology (computers, film, journalism, photography, creative writing & more).

The Festival

On the last day of camp, we hold a Festival with live performances, videos, sports displays, and visual art installations. Parents, guardians, friends and family are invited!

What's New

Though much of CAA remains the same, we are making updates to the program. In addition, our excellent staff will have some brand new classes. Stay tuned to Important News on the Home Page for more information!
